New York Mills took a 23-19 lead at halftime Tuesday night in Battle Lake, however, the lady Battlers came back strong in the second half and recorded a 54-46 victory over the Eagles.

“We had a tough battle with the Eagles tonight as both teams played tough defense, keeping the score low,” reported Head Coach David Marso of Battle Lake.  “In the second half, both teams found a better offensive rhythm and the game stayed close.  Late in the game, we were able to hit a couple of big shots to pull ahead with a modest lead.  The Eagles had to foul late and we were able to convert free throws to seal the win.”

Seniors Ady Tysdal and Grace VanErp each scored 17 points to lead Battle Lake.

Ayla Olson led all scorers with 22 points for the Eagles.

Battle Lake (8-3) will play Hillcrest in Fergus Falls on Friday night.

New York Mills (7-5) will try to snap a four game losing streak when they host Bertha-Hewitt on Thursday night.
