On Thursday night in the New York Mills gym, Tate Olson became the all-time scoring leader in Eagles Boys’ Basketball history when he scored 34 points to lead the home team to an 84-69 victory over Bertha-Hewitt.  Olson passed previous record holder Erik Peeters (1,379 points).  Olson’s stat line included 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals as he turned in a triple-double.

“Tate is a ‘hooper’ through and through,” stated New York Mills Head Coach Mike Baune.  “He just loves basketball and is a lot of fun for his teammates to play with because he loves sharing the ball.  This record is a culmination of years of hard work and dedication to the game for Tate.  For our team, it’s special to witness because his is our leader and we all know how much he deserves it.”

Jonah Johnson (14 points, 5 rebounds) and Noah Noffsinger (11 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists) joined Olson in double digits.  Bryan Bohn added 9 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, while Jack Peeters had 6 points and 6 boards.

New York Mills ran their winning streak to start the season to 9 games with the victory.  They will face an undefeated Henning team on Tuesday night on the Hornets home court.
