Pelican Rapids turned up the defensive pressure on Friday night as they held Perham to 15 first half points and 34 points for the game in a 64-34 Heart O’ Lakes Conference win for the Vikings.

“Our guys played with so much effort defensively tonight which was a big key in the victory for us,” commented Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud. “We rotated well, really worked to not give Perham any easy looks at the basket, and were able to limit them to one shot on most possessions. This was a nice win for us that we can hopefully build off of going into next week.”

Timmy Guler and Ian Fahje were in double digits with 14 and 13 points, respectively, and Hunter Williams chipped in with 8.

Leaders for Perham were Micah Thompson (15 points, 8 rebounds) and Soren Anderson (12 points).  Perham shot just 36% (13-36) from the floor.

Pelican Rapids (5-3) will host Ada-Borup/West on Monday and Hawley on Thursday.

Perham (5-2) had their four game winning streak snapped.  They will play at Esko on Saturday.
