Brevin Stoa led five Hawley players in double digits with 17 points and Sam Senske added 16 to lead the Nuggets past Thief River Falls 79-55 in a game against a section opponent.  Hayden Grani contributed 14, Mason Gratton had 12 and Brady Gratton finished with 11.

Jack Manning and Jack Rosendahl led the Prowlers with 27 and 16 points, respectively.

“This was a really fun Friday night in Hawley,” commented Nuggets Head Coach Nathan Stoa. “Thief River Falls is a top ranked team in our section. They present a lot of problems for teams with their ability to shoot, and Manning is a dude on the inside. We were able to build an 11 point lead at halftime but weren’t playing to our expectations. Fortunately for us, Thief struggled to find secondary options in the half. Our defensive pressure ramped up coming out of halftime and we put a big run together to pull away. The box score won’t show it as he only scored two points, but it was undeniable the impact that Bryant Carlisle made on the game tonight. He was involved in numerous defensive pressures that got us out in transition and created opportunities for everybody else. It is a quick turnaround for us as we head into a 3 game week with a rejuvenated Lake Park squad Monday, Pelican Rapids Thursday, and Henning on Saturday in Perham.”

Hawley ran their winning streak to seven games to start the season.
