The Henning boys’ basketball team came out strong, building a 39-22 halftime advantage on the way to a 65-41 win over Verndale on Thursday night.  The Hornets shot 46% (24-52) from the field as they won their ninth straight game.

“It was fun to get back in the gym in front of a nice crowd,” commented Henning Head Coach Randy Misegades. “Verndale js a very experienced team that presents some challenges with their zone. We did a nice job moving the ball and getting a number of guys involved.”

Calvin Stueve led four players in double figures for the home team, scoring a game high 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting.  He also made 8-of-11 free throws and had 6 rebounds to go along with 4 assists.  Mason Hammer added 14 points and 5 rebounds, Kale Misegades had 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals, and Tyson Misegades added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  Tanner Arndt had a team high 7 assists.

“New York Mills will bring one of the top teams in the state to Henning Tuesday night,” noted Coach Misegades. “We’ll need to play our best game of the season in order win. Our team is excited for the challenge.”
