VanErp and Hanson Each Reach 1000 Career Points as Owls Top Battlers

Two players reached 1,000 career points in Hancock on Tuesday night as Carlee Hanson of the Owls and Grace VanErp of Battle Lake each reached the milestone in the Owls 57-46 victory over the lady Battlers.  Hancock remains undefeated at 8-0 and Battle Lake is now 7-2.

 

“We had a tremendous effort tonight, but came up short in Hancock,” stated Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso.

Hanson and VanErp both reached the 1,000 career point mark in the first half as Hancock took a 28-26 halftime lead.

VanErp led all scorers with 24 points and Hanson led Hancock with 22.  Kaitlyn Rohloff and Misti Zempel were also in double digits with 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the home team.  Zempel completed a double-double with 12 rebounds and Tori Pahl secured 9 boards. Hanson had a team high 6 steals, dished out 3 assists and grabbed 8 boards.

Hancock shot 34% (19-56) from the field, but made 16-of-19 free throws (84%).  The Owls led the battle of the boards 38-30.  Battle Lake shot 36% (17-47) of their field goal attempts.

Hancock will travel to Graceville to face CGB on Friday and will play Morris at UM-Morris on Saturday.

Battle Lake will host Underwood in a Little Eight Conference matchup on Friday night.
