Rebounding from a frustrating loss Wednesday afternoon, the Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball Team defeated the previously unbeaten North Woods Grizzlies 63-55 on Thursday.  The score was knotted at 25 when the first half ended.

For the second consecutive game Arrow forward Jacob Cook scored more than 30 points.  This time he totaled 33 to again lead all scorers.  Hunter Norby was the only other Arrow to reach double figures netting 10.

The Grizzlies also had two players reach double figures.  Brothers Jared and TJ Chiabotti finished with 18 and 10 points, respectively.

“About midway through the first half the boys got much more active on the defensive glass limiting North Woods to one shot most trips,” said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “Five clutch possessions in the second half ended with a three-point basket.  Whether it was getting a deflection, securing a loose ball, or knocking down a free throw, Torin Olson, Carter Spangler, Brodie Ecker, Sam Sorenson, and Evan Paulson all made big plays that helped lead to victory.”

The Arrows overall record improves to 5-1.

They play at Bertha-Hewitt Tuesday, January 4, and host Underwood Thursday, January 6.
