Grace VanErp (33 points, 10 rebounds) recorded another double-double on Thursday afternoon in Pelican Rapids to lead the Battle Lake girls’ basketball team to a third place finish in the Valhalla Division of the Minnesota National Bank Classic with a 73-62 victory over Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal.
Ady Tysdal added 10 points and 7 boards, Erica Heibel had 9 points and Morgan Malone contributed 8 points and 6 boards. The Battlers connected on 15-of-22 free throw opportunities as they improved to 7-1 on the season.
Sophia Lien led the Titans with 14 points, Jerran Madson scored 13 and Adi Klemetson chipped in with 10. The Titans struggled at the free throw line, making only 10-of-28 foul shots. Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal is now 2-7 on the year.
Battle Lake has a challenging week ahead as they travel to Hancock on Tuesday to face the Owls and return home on Friday, January 7 to take on the Underwood Rockets.
