Wayzata Handles Lady Cards 5-1

Wayzata had 37 shots on goal in a 5-1 win over Alexandria in the consolation semifinal round of the Walser Girls Hockey Invitational at the Braemar Ice Arena in Edina on Tuesday.  The Cardinals managed just 21 shots on goal in the contest and went 0-for-5 on the power play.

Wayzata took a 1-0 lead on a Nicole Britz goal, assisted by Mallory Coffin at 9:41 of the opening period.

In the second period, Britz assisted on a goal by Courtney Jacobs at 2:38.  The period ended with ha 2-0 Wayzata lead. Julia Lindahl’s goal at 2:27 of the third was assisted by Tatum Pfleider and Stella Knight and Sloan Matthews scored from Olivia Reem at 6:25 for a 4-0 Wayzata advantage.  The Cardinals got an unassisted goal from Stella Brown at 14:33 and Wayzata tacked on their fifth goal at 16:31 when Kieran Fults scored from Matthews and Coffin.

Alexandria goalie Hunter Sellnow stopped 32 shots.
