Alexandria Girls Settle for 2-2 Tie with Buffalo

Buffalo scored a pair of third period goals to tie the Alexandria girls’ hockey team at 2-2, forcing overtime on Saturday afternoon at the Runestone Community Center.  Neither team scored in the overtime session, resulting in a tie game.

The two teams were scoreless after one period and the Cardinals scored twice in the second period to take a 2-0 lead.  Hanley Block scored from Kaci Trosvig and Kennedy Ellingson at 4:34 and Peyton Boesl scored from Ella Westlund at 15:10.

Nicole Swartzer’s unassisted goal at 3:38 of the third cut the lead in half and Raegan Wurm netted the game tying goal on the power play at 8:30.  Anna Kubu and Cece Ryden assisted on the goal.

Alexandria put 32 shots on goal and Cardinals goalie Jordan O’Kane stopped 23 shots.
