Fergus Falls led 26-21 at the half but pulled away for a 72-40 win over the Breckenridge Cowboys on Friday night.  Twelve of the thirteen Otters who played in the game scored at least one point.  The Otters committed 18 first half fouls and finished with 24 for the game, however, they were able to overcome that issue with a solid second half.

The Otters trailed 6-0 to start the game and were behind 8-6 when they went on an 8 point run to take a 14-8 lead.  They increased the lead to 24-14 before the Cowboys sliced the lead in half, trailing by just five at halftime.  Freshman Henry Bethel provided a much needed spark for the Otters, scoring 8 of his 11 points in the first half.  He also finished with a team high 3 steals and grabbed 6 rebounds.

Kaden Conklin ignited the Otters 13-2 run to start the second half and went on to score 18 of his game high 22 points over the final 18 minutes of play.  Sophomore Hayden Knick made 3-of-3 free throws and hit a pair of three-point field goals, scoring 9 points in the second half.  Fergus Falls made all 8 of their 3-point field goals in the second half.  The Fergus Falls defense forced 20 Breckenridge turnovers in the game.

Alex Sanchez led the Cowboys with 12 points, eight of them in the first half.  Point guard Jack Johnson was also in double figures with 10 points, including the only made 3-pointer for Breckenridge.

Fergus Falls will open their Central Lakes Conference season with a home game against St. Cloud Apollo on Thursday night.
