Lady Spartans Record Season High 23 Assists in 102-44 Win Over Itasca

The M State lady Spartans dished out a season high 23 assists as they poured in 102 points on Friday night in a 102-44 victory over the Itasca Vikings in Fergus Falls.  The Spartans shot 54.7% (47-86) for the night and won the rebounding battle, 49-28.  They also took good care of the basketball with only 11 turnovers, while collecting 16 steals and forcing 25 turnovers.

“This was a nice team win for us,” commented M State Head Coach Jodi Holleman.  “Mackenzie Foss held their best player, Mya Roberts, to 4 points.”

Emily Dehler recorded another double-double (24 points, 11 rebounds) to lead M State.  She also had 6 assists and 3 steals.  Lindsey Kurz also had a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards, while dishing out 3 assists and blocking 4 shots.  Jayna Gronewold added 14 points, 6 assists and 4 steals, Nyssa Vogel had 14 points, 3 assists, 4 steals and 4 rebounds, and Foss finished with 12 points and 4 assists.

Itasca was held to 31.6% (18-57) shooting.  Haley Murray scored a team high 29 points and led the Vikings with 8 rebounds.

M State (3-1) will host Northland Community College at 1:00pm Saturday.
