The M State lady Spartans played their first home game of the season on Tuesday night and after a slow start which saw them fall behind 20-17 after one quarter, M State picked up the pace, forcing 21 turnovers and winning 81-72 over Sisseton-Wahpeton.
Emily Dehler had a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds, while adding 4 assists and 3 steals. Jayna Gronewold scored a team high 19 points and came up with 9 steals and 4 assists. Mackenzie Foss finished with 17 points. Lindsey Kurz made 6-of-9 shots from the field and finished with 12 points.
M State shot 40% (28-70) from the field and made 34/6% (9-26) of their 3-point shots.
Sisseton-Wahpeton shot 44.3% (27-61) for the night and held a slim 42-41 advantage on the boards. Jordyn LaBlanc led the Mustangs with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Hailey Shepard had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Hutowin Baxter contributed 11 points off the bench.
The lady Spartans improved to 2-1 on the season and will host Itasca at 5:30pm Friday before a rematch with Northland at 1:00pm Saturday.
