The Detroit Lakes boys’ hockey team finished their COVID shortened season strong, winning 3 of their last 4 games, including a 4-1 win on the road against a solid Alexandria squad.  The Lakers finished the season with a record of 9-8.

“We return our top two scorers from last year,” said third-year Head Coach Ben Noah.  “Spencer Bergman had 11 goals and 21 points for us, while Jordan Fields had 6 goals and 18 points. Our strength is our forward group as 7 of our top 9 forwards are either second or third year varsity players.  Our weakness is our inexperience on the blue line.  We only have two defensemen that have played varsity hockey.”

Cole Deraney will serve as first line center as a sophomore coming off the Bantam team.  Captains will be Jacob Thomas and Rian SolbergBeau Boehne and Spencer Bergman will serve as Alternate Captains.

Mike Miller, Tanner Lane and Cody Einerson are assistant coaches in the program.

Noah says Warroad, East Grand Forks and Thief River Falls are at the top of Section 8A, while the top teams in the Mid-State Conference will be Northern Lakes and the Lakers.
