Lady Spartans Start Season with Road Win

The M State lady Spartans took good care of the ball on Saturday as they had only 13 turnovers in their 70-50 win over Central Christian College of the Bible.  Mackenzie Foss had a strong debut with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists.  Foss hit 5-of-7 3-point shots in the game and made all four of her free throw opportunities.

Emily Dehler finished with 17 points, 6 boards and 3 assists, and Lindsey Kurz was also in double digits with 14 points, while grabbing 6 rebounds.  Kurz made 7-of-9 field goal attempts.  Nyssa Vogel dished out 4 assists and Abby Tysdal had 8 points, 3 rebounds and 4 steals on the day.

M State made 39.7% (27-68) of their field goal attempts and hit 7-of-19 (37%) of their shots from behind the arc.  They also made 9-of-13 free throws.

Central Christian College shot 32.3% (20-62) and made just 2-of-11 (18.2%) from 3-point land.  They were led by Alexis Whisenand (25 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists), Julie Estremera (9 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals), Atira Davis (8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals) and Raya Brady (6 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists).

M State will travel to Thief River Falls on Tuesday to face the Northland Pioneers.
