As Head Coach Jon Lillquist begins his 28th season leading the Sebeka boys’ basketball team, he has some holes to fill.  “We lost most of our scoring and rebounding from last year, so we are going to have to account for those losses through a team approach,” said Lillquist, who will be assisted by Jeff Lake.

Gone to graduation are Dawson Bullock, who scored his 1000th career point last season, Mason Heino, David Avelsgard and Spencer Lake.  The Trojans also lost Jasper Hosey who transferred out of the District.

Returning letter winners include starters from last year, Isaac Kyllonen (SR, Guard), Christian Berg (SO, Guard) and Teagen Lee (SO, Forward).

Lillquist will be expecting varsity contributions from juniors Brody Connor (Guard), Colton Besett (Forward) and Juan Colorado (Guard), along with sophomores Zack Thornton (Guard), Casey Blixt (Guard) and Brayden Brinkman (Guard).

“We will be young, but have two guards with quite a bit of experience,” noted Lillquist.  “We will not have much height, so we’ll have to play well fundamentally to be successful.”

Coach Lillquist says New York Mills is the favorite in the Park Region Conference, while Nevis is at the top of Section 5A.
