Losing experience varsity players Tony Kreklau, Aiden Larson, Zach Shaw, Blake Vittetoe and Corbett Wensmann to graduation created some holes and some opportunities for the Wadena-Deer Creek boys’ basketball team.

Senior Payton Rondestvedt (Forward) is the only returning starter for Head Coach Kevin Tumberg’s Wolverines.  Tumberg will be looking to senior Isaac Christianson (Forward), juniors Tyson Barthel (Guard), Isaac Hamann (Guard), Charlie Bushinger (Forward), Phillip Ross (Forward) and Eshetu Loer (Forward), and sophomores Teshe Loer (Guard) and Peyton Church (Guard) to fill varsity roles.

Senior Devan Kiser (Guard) and sophomore Josiah Kallevig (Forward) will also be in the mix.

“We are going to be a little inexperienced at the varsity level, but we have a solid crew of underclassmen that are ready to compete,” commented Coach Tumberg.  “We will be able to play fast on both ends of the floor and will look to create as much chaos as possible.”

Tumberg says Fergus Falls, Perham, DGF and Breckenridge should be the top teams in Section 8AA, while New York Mills is his pick as the favorite in the Park Region Conference.

Tumberg will be assisted by Alex Brockpahler, Ryan Elfering, and Ryan Nelson.
