After taking fourth place in the state as a sophomore two years ago, McCleary and his teammates were unable to compete last year due to COVID 19. This year, McCleary, after being ranked number one for the whole season, captured the individual Class A championship with a time of 16:09.64, well ahead of the rest of the field.
With his outstanding effort leading the way, the Yellowjackets scored 128 team points and took runner-up honors behind Nova Classical Academy (122) in the team competition.
