McCleary Wins State Class A Boys Cross Country Title to Lead Perham to 2nd Place Finish

The Perham boys’ cross country team took runner-up honors at the Class A State Meet on Saturday at St. Olaf College in Northfield.  Nova Classical Academy won the team title with 122 points and Perham took second with 128 points.  Jakob McCleary won the individual title with a time of 16:09.64, well ahead of runner-up Henry Karelitz (16:25.02) from Nova.

Other individual finishers from the area were Charlie Larson (16:50.99) of Pelican Rapids in 11th place, Nathan Johannsen (17:09.02) of Frazee in 20th place, Brady Rach (17:30.39) of Bertha-Hewitt in 49th place, and Wadena-Deer Creek runners Bjorn Brunsberg (17:58.14) and Lane Hoefs (17:58.43) in 90th and 91st place, respectively.
