Comets Compile 412 Yards in 48-30 Playoff Win Over Sebeka

Hillcrest Lutheran Academy compiled 412 yards of offense on Tuesday night as they recorded a 48-30 win over Sebeka in the opening round of the Section 4 9-Man playoffs.  Caden Fischer completed 9-of-16 passes for 117 yards and 3 TD’s, while running for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 8 carries.  Evan Lindgren had 167 yards on 19 rushing attempts, scoring twice.

Fischer scored his first touchdown with 1:40 left in the opening quarter on a 4 yard run.  Endre Okland made it 7-0 with the extra point kick.

In the second quarter Lindgren scored on runs of 8 and 39 yards.  A pair of Okland PAT kicks gave the Comets a 21-0 lead.  Sebeka got on the scoreboard with 48 seconds remaining in the half when Hank Tellers hit Casey Blixt with a 26 yard TD pass and then Tellers ran in the two-point conversion to cut the Comets halftime advantage to 21-8.

Hillcrest picked up right where they left off on their first possession of the second half as Fischer connected with Joel Bowman for an 11 yard TD.  Okland booted the extra point for a 28-8 Hillcrest lead.  Tellers scored on a one yard run to trim the Comet lead to 28-14 with 3:43 left in the quarter, but Hillcrest responded with a 21 yard TD pass from Fischer to Cole Peterson and another Okland PAT kick to up the lead to 35-14 near the end of the third quarter.

Fischer and Bowman hooked up on a 32 yard TD pass just six seconds into the fourth quarter and Okland tacked on the point after for a 42-14 lead for the Comets.  Tellers found the end zone once again with 6:42 remaining on a one yard run.  Ian Ness carried the ball over the goal line for the two point conversion and Sebeka was down 42-22.  Fischer broke loose for a 68 yard TD run with 5:43 left for a 48-22 Hillcrest lead and with fifteen seconds remaining in the game Ness went 77 yards for the final TD of the night.  Tellers converted the two-point try to put the final at Hillcrest 48, Sebeka 30.

Bowman (5 receptions, 72 yards, 2 TD) and Peterson (3 receptions, 30 yards, 1 TD) were the top receivers for the Comets.  Defensive leaders were Gavin Knutson (15 tackles, 3 assisted tackles, 1 QB sack), Micah Bermel (9 tackles, 3 assisted tackles), Luke Collins (6 tackles, 3 assisted tackles), Fischer (6 tackles, 1 assisted tackles), Leo Nordick (5 tackles, 4 assisted tackles) and bowman (2 tackles, 2 assisted tackles, 1 interception).

Third-seeded Hillcrest will travel to Wheaton to face the second-seeded Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors in a Section 4 9-Man semifinal contest at 2:00pm Saturday.
