Owls Rack Up 480 Yards Against Bears to Complete 8-0 Regular Season

Hancock threw for 310 yards and ran for 170 on Wednesday night as they posted a 50-20 win over Bertha-Hewitt in the final regular season game for both teams.  The Owls completed a perfect 8-0 season with the win and will take the number one seed into their Section playoffs which begin on Tuesday.

Davin Rose and Matt Thompson got things going early as they connected on a 97 yard TD pass to give the Owls a 6-0 lead.  Bertha-Hewitt responded with a game tying touchdown on a 17 yard pass play.  Luke Joos then hauled in a 28 yard scoring toss from Rose and Rose ran for the two-point conversion and a 14-6 Hancock lead.  Rose hooked up with Joos on a 64 yard TD pass and Rose scored on the two-point conversion run as the Owls took a 22-6 lead after one quarter.  They added to that lead with a 17 yard TD pass from Rose to Thompson in the second quarter, taking a 28-6 halftime lead.

Brayden Smith scored the first touchdown of the third quarter on a 20 yard run and Rose hit Thompson with the two-point conversion pass for a 36-6 advantage.  Rose delivered a 19 yard scoring toss to David Milander and Milander carried the ball into the end zone for the two-point conversion as the third quarter ended with Hancock leading 44-6.

Bertha-Hewitt got the first two scores of the fourth quarter on runs of 2 and 55 yards.  They were successful on one of their two-point conversion attempts, cutting the Hancock lead to 44-20.  Titus Bjerketvedt went 75 yards on the kick-off following the second Bears TD of the quarter to put the final score at 50-20.

Rose was 10-for-16 throwing the football for 310 yards and 5 TD’s.  Thompson (5 receptions, 176 yards, 2 TD’s) and Joos (4 receptions, 115 yards, 2 TD’s) were his leading receivers.  Chase Evink topped the rushing chart with 109 yards on 13 carries.  Defensively, Dain Schroeder (6 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles), Rose (5 solo tackles, 6 assisted tackles) and Evink (4 solo tackles, 9 assisted tackles) were the leading tacklers.
