Cowgirls Take Third at Fergus Falls Volleyball Tournament

The Breckenridge volleyball team finished first in Pool Play at the Fergus Falls Blocktoberfest Tournament on Thursday, qualifying for championship action in the Gold Pool where they earned runner-up honors to Pequot Lakes.

The Cowgirls started Pool Play with a 2-0 (25-17, 25-18) win over Detroit Lakes.  They were led by Camryn Kaehler (13 kills, 5 digs, 2 aces, 1 block assist), Abby Johnson (9 kills, 10 digs, 2 aces), Carcie Materi (13 set assists,5 digs, 1 ace), Sophie Larson (10 set assists, 3 digs), Lauren Beyer (2 kills, 1 block assist, 1 solo block) and Riley Finkral (10 digs, 3 kills, 3 aces).

In their second match of Pool Play the Cowgirls were 2-0 (25-19, 25-8) winners over Minnewaska Area.  Leaders were Johnson (8 kills, 9 digs, 4 aces), Materi (10 set assists, 9 digs, 2 aces), Kaehler (5 kills, 6 digs, 1 ace), Finkral (13 digs, 1 ace), Larson (10 set assists, 6 digs), Tori Undem (5 kills) and Ana Erickson (4 kills).

In the Gold Pool, Breckenridge lost to Pequot Lakes 2-0 (25-20, 25-8).  Topping the stat chart were Materi (10 digs, 5 set assists), Johnson (5 aces, 5 kills, 5 digs), Kaehler (6 kills), Finkral (8 digs), Larson (4 set assists) and Erickson (2 block assists, 2 digs).

Their final match of the day was a 2-0 (25-15, 25-21) win over Fergus Falls.  Johnson (7 aces, 6 kills, 8 digs), Materi (12 set assists, 6 digs), Morgan Bruns (3 kills, 2 digs), Kaehler (9 kills, 5 digs), Finkral (13 digs), Larson (8 set assists, 3 digs), Erickson (4 kills, 1 block assist, 2 digs) and Undem (2 kills, 2 digs, 1 block assist, 1 solo block).

Breckenridge ends the regular season with a record of 25-2.
