Defensive leaders were Ellissa Rinke and Kyah Thomas with 12 and 7 digs, respectively.

The Warriors travel to Sisseton, South Dakota on Tuesday and participate in the Underwood Tournament on Thursday.

Ashby was led by Alyssa Johnson (7/8 serving, 1 ace, 1 kill, 3 digs), Catherine Koefod (15/15 serving, 1 ace, 11 assists, 3 digs), Celi Nelson (7/7 serving, 1 ace, 7 kills, 1 block, 6 digs), Mya Roley (7/7 serving), Lucy Ohren (5 digs), Livy Johnson (4/6 serving, 5 kills, 1 block) and Kaylee Schlundt (3/6 serving, 2 aces, 2 kills).

“Some nights no matter what sort of success you have as an individual it doesn't seem to be enough against some competition,” commented Ashby Head Coach Hayley Stevens. “Tonight the girls played their hearts out. They came ready for big hitters, big blockers and scrappy defense and their play showed it but it just didn't seem to be enough against all the weapons that WHN dishes out. Tall girls with strong quick arms made it hard for us to read the hitter and get to the blocks quick enough which made it harder to pick them up in the back court. For years I have been coming to this gym as a player and now a coach and the space always seems to throw us off. Sets appear different whether higher or not and the lines catch us as we feel like there isn't possibly more room on the court. I was incredibly happy with big moments during this game but crucial moments where we can't compose ourselves catch us until there is too big of a gap to make up.”

“Our last home game is Tuesday with Hillcrest,” added Coach Stevens.  “We will be recognizing our injured teammate Ava Ellingson as she gets back in the gym with the team for the first time after her accident in August. So happy to see her healing and getting stronger!”
