The Underwood football team traveled to Ada on Friday night where the Ada-Borup Cougars turned in an impressive 34-0 victory over the Rockets.

“Ada just outmatched us tonight,” said Underwood Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson.  “We had a lot of mental mistakes in our blocking assignments and coverage responsibilities that we could blame on missing key guys all week and into the game, but really we were just out of whack from the beginning of this game.  Ada is a really good team and to beat them we had to be better than what we were."

Ada-Borup took a 7-0 lead on an interception return by Pake Leiseth and an extra point kick by Jaewon Ha just ten seconds into the game.  With 1:33 left in the first quarter Beau Fetting scored on a 2 yard run and Ha’s PAT kick made it a 14-0 game at the end of one quarter of play.

The Cougars scored with 20 seconds remaining in the first half on a 1 yard run by Oliver Kritzberger, taking a 20-0 halftime lead.

With 7:59 left in the third quarter Fetting scored on a 5 yard run for a 26-0 lead.  The final TD was scored by Austin McCraven who hauled in a 15 yard pass from Aiden Marcussen with 2:32 left in the game.  Tristan Triplett scored the two-point conversion to put the final at 34-0.

"I took a lot out of this game, as we were able to run more of our guys in and out of this game,” said Coach Hendrickson. “I thought Logan Schleske looked good at HB, Owen Harig and Kaleb Hammes sure made the most out of their time in the back field also. They did not have many mistakes while running the ball well."

Underwood was held to just 88 yards of offense, while Ada-Borup compiled 303 yards (122 passing, 181 rushing).

Underwood will now go to West Central Area to take on the Knights in the regular season finale on Wednesday Oct 20.
