Fergus Falls scored six first half goals and added four more in the second half as they cruised to a 10-0 quarterfinal round victory over Pelican Rapids in the Section 8A Girls’ Soccer playoffs at Otter Stadium in Fergus Falls on Thursday night.

Hope Goepferd scored off a cross from Piper Andrews one minute into the game.  Yana Prischmann then scored off a give and go from Tyra Skjeret six minutes in for a 2-0 Otter lead.  With just over thirty minutes remaining in the half Ella Starzl scored from Piper Andrews.  A half minute later Andrews scored for Skjeret to make it a 4-0 lead for Fergus Falls.  With six minutes left in the half Talia Nelson scored from Goepferd and at the two minute mark Haley Kugler scored from Maddie Boyd to finish the first half.

Four minutes into the second half Goepferd got her second goal of the night with an assist from Andrews.  Desi Maack scored with 23 minutes left off an assist from Boyd and Boyd tallied an unassisted goal a minute later.  Three minutes after that Maddie Hulter added an unassisted goal to close out the scoring for the night.

Brynn Walter recorded her second shutout in as many games.

“Pelican Rapids is a very young team who played very tough for 80 minutes,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “They are a very well-coached program.  Our girls played well tonight.  They moved the ball and made the easy pass to keep possession.  Our leaders did a great job getting everyone involved.”

Fergus Falls will host Crookston in a semifinal round game at 1:00pm Saturday at the Otter Stadium Field.
