Lady Spartans Win 3rd Consecutive 5-Set Match

The M State volleyball team played their third five-set match in a row on Wednesday night in St. Cloud and the outcome was the same as the previous two, a 3-2 Spartan win.  M State recorded wins of 25-23 and 25-19 to take a 2-0 lead before the Cyclones won games 3 and 4, 25-14, 25-20.  The lady Spartans were able to bounce back in the fifth set to secure a 15-9 win and match victory.

MCAC Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week, Bailey Marty, led their effort with a match high 52 digs.  Emily Condon added 36 digs and Jayna Gronewold had 21.

Kaia Strom distributed 39 set assists and Brooke Hovland led the attack with 10 kills.  Condon added 9 kills, Strom 8, Emily Dehler 8 and Anya Maack 7.  Maack, Strom, Dehler and Alaina Anderson contributed two solo blocks each, while Dehler also recorded 3 block assists.

Condon and Marty each had a pair of ace serves.

M State (13-4) will close out the home portion of their schedule with games on Friday at 6:30pm against Anoka-Ramsey and Saturday at noon against Century College.
