Otter Girls Swept at Home by Sauk Rapids-Rice

The Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm paid a visit to Fergus Falls on Tuesday night where they recorded a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-19 win over the Otters in a Central Lakes Conference matchup.

Trailing 20-15 in the first set, the Otters scored 5 of the next 6 points to pull within a point at 21-20.  A long volley went the Storm's way on a big block and gave them the momentum they needed to finish off the first set with a 25-21 victory.  Darci Peterson and Lexi Helmin each served up a pair of aces for the Storm.  Jenna Carlson led the Otters with 3 kills and an ace serve.

In set two, the Otters cut the lead to four points at 16-12, but Sauk Rapids-Rice went on to score nine of the last ten points, including the final seven, to record the 25-13 win.  Middle hitter Ava Atham and outside hitter Darci Peterson each contributed 5 kills in the set. 

Fergus Falls started out strong in the third set as Ariana Noplos recorded 3 kills and 2 blocks to help the Otters take a 7-3 lead.  The Storm battled back and when they were trailing 15-11 the went on a ten point run to gain control of the match.  Nine of the points were scored on the serving of Kieryn Hirdler.

Noplos led the Otters with 8 kills and 3 blocks.  Carlson added 5 kills, 8 digs and 4 ace serves and Lizzy Moxness contributed 6 kills and 7 digs.  Tori Ratz led the team with 14 set assists and 9 digs and Karyssa Eberle had 8 set assists.  Avery Knutson had a team high 14 digs in the match.

Fergus Falls will host Sartell on Thursday night in their final CLC dual of the season.  They will also host their 9-team Blocktoberfest Tournament on Thursday, October 21 beginning at 9:00am.
