The Fergus Falls Otter Girls Varsity team placed third out of 6 teams at the Albany Invitational on Tuesday.  “This was a new meet for us,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Niki Welde.  “The competition was perfect for the final regular season meet of the year.  We end our season next week with the CLC Championship meet in Rocori followed by the Section 8AA meet in Alexandria.”

Cassie Wellman (19:32.4) ran first for the Otters and 2nd overall to Olivia Goebel (18:07.4) from Albany (Ranked number 2 in the state).  “Cassie continues to fine tune her 5K race,” noted Wellman. “She ran another season best tonight.  Becca Schindler (22:07.9) ran second for the Otters with a huge time drop on her season best.  She had a powerful second half of her race to move into our second scoring spot and fourteenth overall.  Sarah Grotnerg (22:10.6) joined her with a large season best time in the third position, fifteenth overall.”  Naomi Dummer (22:26.4) and Julia Anderson (23:35.6) rounded out the top 5 for the Otters, placing nineteenth and thirtieth, respectively. Hannah Scharnberg (23:43.8) turned in a season best time in the Otters 6th position and 32nd overall.

Ellia Soydara led the JV race tonight placing 9th overall.  She was joined by Ali McClain, Miah Schmidt, and Sonja Lahti, all racing to season best times.

The Middle School girls placed 3rd of 4 teams.  They were led by Violet McConn.  She was joined on the medal stand by Alana Higby and Brynn Blondeau.  Jenna Thorson and Madi Michael brought in the scoring 5 for the Otters.
