Brandon-Evansville was a 3-1 winner over the Rothsay Tigers in a Little Eight Conference volleyball match on Tuesday night in Evansville.

“Tonight we saw the same team show up in two different ways,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Kelly Olson.  “In sets 1 and 4 we made very few errors, passed the ball well, and served aggressively while keeping the ball in.  In the other two sets we failed to do those things at that level, and the scores reflected our lack of focus.  The team that played in sets 1 and 4 are what we are striving to be.  In sets 1 and 4 we served 47/49 with 6 ace serves.  In sets 2 and 3 we served 38/47 with 7 aces.  Passing, hitting percentage, and set assists were following these same lines.  We have been talking about playing consistent throughout matches, and this is the best example of what happens when a team loses focus.  The players have been working hard at becoming more consistent in their play in practice, but we need to carry that over to every point of every match, just not when things seem to be going well.  Everything really starts with the serve or the pass, and when we take care of the ball we are successful.”

Serving leaders were Sydney Schaefer (21/24, 4 aces), Taylor Yeats (21/23, 3 aces), Kendall Hoidahl (15/17, 3 aces), EmmaLee Brethorst (10/12, 2 aces) and Olivia Otto (8/9, 1 ace).

Schaefer distributed 31 set assists.  Taylor Suchy and Olivia Otto led the defense with 18 digs and 15 digs, respectively. Yeats added 10 digs, while Schaefer and Kylee Dingwall had 7 each.  Dingwall had a team high 11 kills, while Yeats and Gretchen Bredberg contributed 8 kills apiece.
