The Fergus Falls girls’ soccer team continues to play well.  On Tuesday night at the Otter Stadium Field the Otters scored six unanswered goals in a 6-0 shutout victory over St. Cloud Apollo.

At the 33 minute mark Piper Andrews received a drop pass from Tyra Skjeret and pounded a shot through the Apollo goalkeeper’s hands for a 1-0 Fergus Falls lead.  Four minutes later Kiara Grady played a beautiful ball off a corner kick and Skjeret drilled it into the back of the net with a header, making it 2-0.  At the 19 minute mark there was a scrum in front of the goal and Andrews crashed the net for her second goal of the night.  With ten minutes to go in the first half Hope Goepferd received a pass from Haley Kugler at the top of the 18 and shot it into the lower left hand corner of the net and the Otters took a 4-0 lead into halftime.

At the 33 minute mark of the second half Andrews received a through ball from Goepferd and placed it into the back of the net to finish her hat trick.  Megan Tosset won a 50/50 ball and dished it to Skjeret with 20 minutes to play and Skjeret scored the final goal of the night.

“The girls did what they needed to do tonight,” commented Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “They took the game from the very start and possessed the ball, creating numerous scoring opportunities.  At this point of the season we are all about winning each half of the game and by concentrating on that we are always motivated to play our best soccer.  Everyone received playing time tonight, which is always nice late in the season.  Brynn Walter recorded a shutout tonight, giving us some stability in goal.”

Fergus Falls will host Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Thursday night at the Otter Stadium Field.
