Warriors Win Big

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross had 543 total yards in their 81-0 win over Bertha-Hewitt on Friday night.  The Warriors had 263 passing yards and 280 rushing yards on the night.  They also caused six turnovers, intercepting five passes in the game.  Eight different players got into the end zone for Wheaton/Herman-Norcross.

In the first quarter Jarred Ehlers scored on a 28 yard run and Tim Blume ran in the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.  The Warriors made it 16-0 on a 28 yard pass from Zach Braaten to Hunter Blume and another Tim Blume conversion run.  Clint Determan then hauled in a 5 yard TD pass from Braaten and added the extra point kick to put the score at 23-0.  Ehlers was on the receiving end of a 10 yard scoring toss from Braaten and Braaten hooked up with Determan for the two-point conversion for a 31-0 Wheaton/Herman-Norcross lead after one quarter of play.

The Warriors increased the lead to 60-0 at the half with four more touchdowns in the second quarter.  Determan caught a 62 yard pass from Braaten, who hit Bryant Callenius with the two-point conversion pass for a 39-0 lead.  Callenius then returned an interception for a TD and Determan’s kick put the score at 46-0.  A 2 yard pass from Braaten to Brayden Hofer and another Determan kick made it 53-0 and a 5 yard run by Joey Krenz, followed by Determan’s PAT kick got the score up to 60-0.

Ehlers scored on a 70 yard run in the third quarter and Determan kicked the extra-point for a 67-0 lead after three.

Fourth quarter scores came on a 14 yard pass from Marshall Tolifson to Tucker Blume, followed by a two-point conversion run by Patrick Forcier, and a 24 yard run by Brody Nachbor.

Braaten ended the night completing 12-of-16 passes for 221 yards and 5 scores.  Ehlers had 142 rushing yards on 7 attempts and Forcier had 5 carries for 73 yards.  Determan was the leading receiver with 87 yards on 3 catches, including two TD’s.  Hofer caught 6 balls for 73 yards and Hunter Blume had 2 receptions for 51 yards.  Tolifson led the defense with 8 tackles and one assisted tackle.  Hofer had two interceptions, while Tolifson and Nachbor joined Callenius with one interception each.  In addition to the five picks, WHN recorded three sacks in the contest.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross held Bertha-Hewitt to 39 rushing yards and 201 total yards.

The Warriors (4-1) is scheduled to host Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Friday night.


Bertha-Hewitt (2-3) will entertain Verndale on Friday night in Bertha.
