Knights Score 45 Straight Points to Start Win Over Crookston

The West Central Area/Ashby Knights football team dominated their homecoming game on Friday night in Barrett, scoring the first 45 points of the game and recording a 45-6 win over the Crookston Pirates to improve their season record to 5-0.

The Knights opened up a 12-0 lead with a pair of first quarter touchdown runs, the first one covering 5 yards by Hunter Norby and the second on a one yard run by Mattson Hoff.  Twelve more points in the second quarter allowed the Knights to open up a 24-0 halftime lead on the Pirates.  Torin Olson returned a punt 44 yards for score and Anthony Sykora ran the ball into the end zone from 34 yards out.

In the third quarter, Evan Paulson completed a 25 yard TD pass to Hoff and Sykora ran in the two-point conversion.  Sykora then scored on a 20 yard run and WCA/Ashby had a 38-0 lead heading to the fourth.

Sykora connected with Cole Anderson on a 75 yard touchdown pass and then Paulson kicked the extra point for a 45-0 lead over Crookston.

Crookston got their points on an 84 yard kickoff return by Ethan Boll, putting the final at 45-6.

West Central Area/Ashby had no trouble moving the football as they recorded 481 (242 passing, 239 rushing) total yards.  Crookston had 122 total yards with 86 passing and 36 rushing.

Leaders for West Central Area/Ashby were Paulson (9 completions, 13 attempts, 167 yards, TD), Sykora (18 carries, 182 yards, 2 TD’s) and Cole Anderson (4 catches, 128 yards, TD).  Carson Spangler (5 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackle, INT), Mattson Hoff (4 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles) and Hunter Norby (4 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles).
