“The site was beautiful but the weather was a challenge,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Niki Welde.  “We had scheduled to run 7 races including an elementary youth race.  Lightning caused us to postpone our races for over 2 hours.  We are so thankful to the patience of the athletes, coaches and volunteers who stuck it out sitting in cars and buses until the weather allowed us to start. We unfortunately had to cancel our youth elementary race.  We were fortunate to find a short window of time between storms and before the sun set to run one large Middle School race, and a 5K race with a 2 minute wave between boys and girls.  Long story short it was a tough night to race.  The kids performed well under stressful conditions.”

Cassie Wellman led the Varsity Otters in her 5K debut.  She placed 6th overall in a tough Section and Central Lakes Conference field.   Naomi Dummer joined her in placing in the top 25 with a tough 5K finish.

Next meet for the Otters is in Perham next Thursday.
