Carter Johnson ran for three touchdowns on Friday night to lead the Pelican Rapids football team to a 28-8 win over Parkers Prairie.  Johnson finished with 96 rushing yards on 23 attempts and the Vikings had 265 yards of total offense in the game.

Johnson’s first two TD’s came in the second quarter, the first one on a 9 yard run and the second on a one yard plunge.  Johnson also scored a two-point conversion after his first TD.  He added his third score of the night early in the fourth quarter on a one yard run and once again added the two-point conversion run to give the Vikings a 22-0 lead.  Jack Kapenga then stripped and recovered a fumble for a 30 yard defensive touchdown to make it a 28-0 game.  Parkers Prairie scored on a 2 yard touchdown pass and added the two-point conversion for the final points of the night.

“With many guys in and out of the lineup, we were able to pull out a win in front of a fantastic homecoming crowd,” said Pelican Rapids Head coach Eli Beachy.  “We look forward to getting back to full strength this week against OTC and play with more focus and intensity.”
