The Pelican Rapids volleyball team lost in 3 sets at Wadena-Deer Creek on Tuesday night as the Wolverines won 25-23, 29-27, 25-13.  The Vikings were coming off back to back games and had to make another complete lineup change with some girls missing.

“I was so proud of how these girls handed to big changes and how they stepped into new roles and handled it very well,” said Head Coach Heidi Isaman.  “8th grade setter Morgan Korf jumped into our Libero position and did an amazing job and led the Vikings with 23 digs.  Senior setter Sophie Paulson did a great job of running our offense and transitioning from running a 5-1 offense versus a 6-2 offense.  Middle hitters Ellie Welch and Anna Roisum made huge gains tonight as a whole.  They were getting lots of great touches to slow their offense down and were way more aggressive on offense.  Anna Rousim led the team in kills with 11 by finding the open spot of the court.  Kelsey Isaman and Morgan Korf did a very good job serve receiving tonight and giving our setter more options on where to set the ball. Sophomore Thea Olson did a great job stepping to the right front Role tonight and communicated well.  Zoe Kekaha also was a huge part of our very close sets with her consistent and aggressive serving.  Even though the Vikings left with a loss, we made huge steps forward tonight and I could not be more proud of them.”

Leaders were Roisum (11 kills), Welch (7 kills, 1 block kill, 1 ace), Tori Stephenson (7 kills, 10 digs), Isaman (5 kills, 5 digs), Korf (23 digs), Paulson (20 set assists, 1 ace) and Kekaha (4 digs).

Pelican Rapids will host Breckenridge in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference match on Thursday.
