On Monday the Fergus Falls girls’ tennis team hosted a triangular against two section 6AA opponents in East Grand Forks and Alexandria.  The Green Wave recorded a 6-1 win, sweeping all four singles matches, while Alexandria also won all four singles matches in their 5-2 victory.

The Green Wave from East Grand Forks proved to be just too deep for us today.  Their singles lineup took all the matches in straight sets.  They were simply too consistent and steady for us today.  We had some great doubles matches against EGF.  Our win came at second doubles from our two senior captains in Mia Marsh and Mackenzie Krava.  This duo has partnered in the past and had a great, aggressive showing today while only dropping three games in two sets.  Our first doubles team of Isabella Abrahams and Ashtyn Lill dropped a tight one in a third set super tie-breaker while Cyntreya Lockett and Karley Braeger lost a very tight two setter 6-4,7-6(5).

Next up, Fergus played Alexandria, who also showed their depth tonight.  Alex swept singles and won first doubles in a 5-2 win over the Otters.  Both Madison and Amber Anderson had great first sets which they lost in tie-breakers, giving the momentum to Alexandria.  In doubles action, Mackenie Krava and Leila Nasri played a really great match.  They fell 7-6 in the first set, dropping the tiebreaker.  The challenge for these girls was to dig deep and restart the match from there, which they did very well tonight.  Sometimes after dropping a close set in a tie-breaker, players can struggle to stay up mentally, but tonight Mac and Leila did a great job of staying positive and working their way back into the match.  They really controlled the match from that point on and this was a great match for them.  Mia and Hannah also had a great match at third doubles, dropping only four games.

Tonight we had a great crowd on hand for our parents' night.  We grilled hot dogs and celebrated a great season thus far.  We were also able to honor our five seniors: Lexi Goldenstein, Lexy Samuelson, Ellie Colbeck, Mackenzie Krava and Mia Marsh.  These young ladies are wonderful role models and teammates for our younger players and we're so proud of them.  They also flexed their senior muscles today on court with some great play in their final home matches.  Even without the wins, today was a great day for Otter tennis.

Next up for the Otters is another 8AA matchup tomorrow in Detroit Lakes at 4:00pm.
