With three games on tap this past week for the Pelican Rapids Boys' Soccer team, the Vikings were looking for their strongest squad possible as they prepped for three decisive Section 8A games.  But as Tuesday approached, it was apparent that starting centerback Sebastian Rosiles would be unavailable for the team due to injury.  So the shifting of players began as the Hillcrest Comets came to town.

A shift in formation and in personnel took the Vikings a little while to find their groove but nine minutes into the match, Mohamed Ahmed found Jesus Moreno who put the ball into the lower corner to put the Vikings ahead 1-0.  Six minutes later, Moreno found Sebastian Centeno who put the Vikings ahead 2-0.  Centeno then found Hamsa Ishowa who put the Vikings ahead 3-0 at the half.  Early in the second half, Ahmed again found Centeno who put the Vikings ahead 4-0 and then Centeno completed his hat trick for the day when a Jesus Moreno cross threaded its way through the mass of players on a corner.  Centeno's day wasn't done though as he found Jesus Moreno who put the Vikings up 6-0.  Yahir Daiz completed the scoring for the Vikings when Noe Moreno threaded a ball his way in the final 20 minutes.

Two days later the Vikings hosted the top team in Section 8A, the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders.  With Rosiles still not back yet, the Vikings now found themselves with an additional four players unavailable for the foreseeable future.  So the shifting within the formation and squad continued.  Just seven minutes into the match, Cathedral took a 1-0 lead.  However, a short time later, tremendous counter pressing by Jose Zetino Lopez led to a Cathedral turnover and Sebastian Centeno found Mohamed Ahmed.  Ahmed's initial shot was saved by the Cathedral goalkeeper but Ahmed was able to head in the rebound to make the score 1-1.  With roughly 10 minutes remaining in the half, aggressive counter pressing by Danny Diaz again led to a Cathedral turnover and Diaz was able to whip the ball into a sprinting Mohamed Ahmed who was able to chip the Cathedral goalkeeper to make the score 2-1 at halftime.  In the second half, a lapse in concentration by the defense at the 20-minute mark led to a Cathedral goal making the score 2-2.  The final minutes were tense as both teams had opportunities to take the lead.  With 10 seconds to play, Cathedral mid, Chandler Hendricks received a pass along the sideline and turned to hit a shot that went just over the finger tips of Viking goalkeeper Arturo Zavala as time expired.

On Saturday, the Vikings picked themselves back up to host the final event of the homecoming weekend as they played against highway 59 rival Fergus Falls.  Fourteen minutes in, the Vikings struck when Mohamed Ahmed's shot was saved but Sebastian Centeno banged in the rebound to put the Vikings up 1-0.  With five minutes remaining in the half, Ahmed found Centeno who put the Vikings ahead 2-0.  With eleven seconds remaining in the half, Centeno was fouled in the box and Jesus Moreno put the penalty into the back of the net to put the Vikings up 3-0 at the half.

In the second half, just four minutes in, Daniel Urbano banged in a Mohamed Ahmed rebound to put the Vikings up 4-0.  Six minutes later, Jesus Moreno scored again on a Sebastian Centeno assist and Centeno completed his hat-trick with sixteen minutes remaining on a pass from Mohamed Ahmed.

The Vikings are now 6-3-0 on the season and prepare for a Tuesday match-up with the Bemidji Lumberjacks.  With their goals this week, Mohamed Ahmed has now tied Khadar Ibrahim for the all-time lead in career goals scored (28), while Jesus Moreno now sits one goal behind them.  Sebastian Centeno now sits tied with Ibrahim as well for goals scored in a season with fourteen.
