The Hillcrest football team exploded for 63 points on Friday night on the way to a 31 point victory over Bertha-Hewitt, posting a 63-32 final score in Bertha.
“It was a great night to get in the win column,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Korey Fry. “Our goal this week was to come out and compete for 48 minutes. Our team was able to stay focused all week and ready to play. Coach Stich took over offensive play calls with Coach Nordick gone on Army duty. Friday night our offense was explosive with our no-huddle attack, which really caught Bertha-Hewitt off guard. Defensively we had some really good moments but are struggling with our assignments.”
Caden Fischer completed 22-of-35 passes for 304 yards and 3 touchdowns, while running for 66 yards and 3 TD’s. Joel Bowman caught 11 passes for 205 yards and a pair of TD’s. Defensive leaders were Micah Bermel (8 tackles, 1 assisted tackle, 1.5 QB sacks), Fischer (7 tackles, 1 assisted tackle) and David Wangboje (3 tackles, 1 assisted tackle, 1 QB sack, 1 fumble recovery).
