Salo ran for 176 yards and scored three touchdowns on Friday night as the Eagles recorded a 20-12 win over Wadena-Deer Creek.
His first TD came in the second quarter on a 2-yard run and was the only score of the first half. After the Wolverines had tied the game, Salo broke loose for a 77-yard TD run and added the two-point conversion for a 14-6 lead. His final touchdown came on a one yard run in the fourth quarter.
New York Mills (2-0) will play at Pine River-Backus on Friday night.
