Inniger's 73 Leads Spartan Golfers after First Day of Home Invitational

The M State Spartans are hosting a two-day Golf Invitational at Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls, with round one being completed today (Sunday, September 19) and round two scheduled for tomorrow (Monday, September 20).   Grant Inniger led the Spartan Men on Sunday with a 73 and Audra Ewan shot an 88 to lead the women.

Jamestown Orange has the first day lead with a 303, just two strokes better than Jamestown Black.  Alexandria Tech is third with a 315, followed by M State at 320, Valley City State at 335 and UM-Morris at 375.

Jackson Worner of Jamestown Orange was the first round medalist with a 72.  Inniger was joined by Jayme French of Alex Tech with rounds of 73.  Coming in with 75’s were Tate Olson of Jamestown Orange, and Carter Wells and Chuck Janssen of Jamestown Black.  Gannon Lueck of Alex Tech, Tomas Garcia of Jamestown Orange and Treyton Forsman of Jamestown Black all recorded rounds of 77, Benjamin Schaefer of Jamestown Black shot a 78 and two golfers, Gehrig Geiss of Jamestown Orange and Rory Gentzkow of Valley City State shot 79’s.

Other Spartan scores included an 80 from Hunter Burnside, an 82 from Joel Quam, an 85 from Mikey Vall and an 89 from Sam Western.

Jamestown Orange also leads the women’s competition after day one with a 342.  UM-Morris is second with a 354, Valley City State third with a 376 and Jamestown Black fourth with a 383.

Individual leaders are Abby Hamman of Alex Tech, Justine Day of UM-Morris and Hayley Shanks of Valley City State, all sitting at 82.  Jamestown Orange golfers Jayme Carlson (84), Faith Justesen (85), Izzy Marchino (86) and Kyra Vogel (87) are next, followed by Ewan and Hannah Selig of UM-Morris with rounds of 88.
