Little Falls Girls Remain Undefeated with 8-1 Win Over Hillcrest

The Little Falls Flyers Girls soccer team hosted Hillcrest Lutheran Academy for an 11am match Saturday morning. The Flyers got the victory with an 8-1 win.

The Flyers started off fast, scoring in the 6th minute when Carla Bassett won a ball in the middle of the field and fed Mikayla Houdek for the goal. Houdek struck again, 3 minutes later, scoring when Ana Steadman punted the ball up the field and Kendal Swantek flicked it on to Houdek. Kylee Seidl had the third goal of the match, in the 23rd minute, on a one time shot in the box off a cross from Kyra Caauwe. Houdek got her third of the game in the 32nd minute, Bassett again had the assist. In the 37th minute Bassett had a corner kick that Swantek ran on to and put into the net on a one time shot. Hillcrest was able to find the net before half on a set piece in the 38th minute. The free kick went off the wall, off Steadman and to the feet of Annie Claney who scored. The halftime score was 5-1.

Seidl got her second of the game in the 59th minute when Kendall Swantek made a run into the box and played the ball behind the keeper for Seidl to finish. Houdek then got her 4th when Claire Zupko had a shot in the 63rd minute go off the keeper directly to Houdek who put it in. Joelle Vacek got the final goal of the game off a pass from Houdek in the 65 minute.

Ana Steadman got the win in goal for the Flyers with two saves. Houdek had 4 goals, 1 assist, Seidl 2 goals, Swantek 1 goal, 2 assists, Vacek 1 goal, Bassett 3 assists, Caauwe 1 assist, Zupko 1 assist.

Hillcrest has a busy week ahead as they host Walker-Hackensack-Akeley on Tuesday, travel to Crookston on Thursday and play at Pelican Rapids on Saturday morning.

The Flyers remain undefeated at 7-0-1 overall, 3-0-1 in conference. Little Falls will host Detroit Lakes on Monday the 20th at 5pm, travel to Cathedral for a 7pm game on the 21st, and then return home to host Zimmerman on the 23rd.
