“Thriller last night in Breck,” said Barnesville Head Coach Megan Askegaard. “What a night of intense excitement in a gym for a big HOL match up. There is definitely a great rivalry between the two teams. We took off in the first set with the momentum all on our side. We were making big plays and everything just kept on clicking on our side of the net. Our defense was great and our attacking was aggressive. We served them tough and caused them to play out of system to start the night off. In the first set we were able to string together a couple nice runs of serving points followed by our defense picking up balls right and left. Breck has some big hitters that were able to place the ball around our block. We needed to be more effective up at the net to help our back row defense out a little more. Breck also got more comfortable in their serve receive and passed the ball well. The girls battled with them tonight we just needed a couple more points to go our way down the stretch. In the 5th set we needed to just get off point 11 and it would have made a difference. In those quick sets to 15, mistakes really come into effect. Breck has a great team. They will do very well in their section. We learn so much from losing that only makes us better in the long run.”

The Trojans travel to Underwood on Tuesday and are off to Hawley for a tournament on Saturday.
