The Barnesville Lady Trojans traveled to Wadena Tuesday night for a AA match up with the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines.  Barnesville posted a 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-21) victory over WDC.

The first set started with a missed serve from the Wolverines and Emily Smith went on an 11-0 run before a hitting error on the Barnesville side of the net. “We had a great start tonight and really kept the momentum on our side and played amazing defense,” stated Head Coach Megan Askegaard of the Trojans. “We really eliminated mistakes and played a clean set to start the night. Our block was very effective against their strong hitters. We carried the momentum into the second set with great passing on serve receive and on defense. Katie Newell (30 set assists) moved the ball along the net very well tonight and attacked the Wolverines from all areas up on the net. Emily Bredman (13 kills) and Lexi Bolgrean (9 kills) had fantastic attacks up against the WDC defense and led us in attacking tonight.”

Other statistical leaders were Smith (17/19 serving, 1 ace), Anna Stanford (11/11 serving, 9 digs, 5 kills) and Sydney Strand (13 digs).

Barnesville plays at Breckenridge Thursday night.
