Vikings Win Behind Five Point Effort by Centeno

The Pelican Rapids boys’ soccer team earned their first win in the season as they shutout East Grand Forks 8-0 in the Vikings home opener on Tuesday at Brown Field in Pelican Rapids.

Sebastian Centeno scored three first half goals and assisted on the other two as the Vikings took a 5-0 lead over the Greenwave at halftime.  Centeno got Pelican on the scoreboard in the fourth minute with an assist from Oscar Pedroza.  Centeno then setup Jesus Moreno for the second goal eleven minutes in.  Hamsa Ishowa made it 3-0 at the 27 minute mark, assisted by Centeno.  With ten minutes remaining in the half Centeno scored with Mohamed Ahmed and the same combination connected less than a minute later for the fifth goal of the half.

Moreno notched his second goal of the game eight minutes into the second half with Ahmed earning his third assist.  An unassisted goal by Ishowa midway through the half increased the lead to 7-0 and less than minute later Ishowa assisted on the final goal of the game which was scored by Abdul Ahmed.

Pelican Rapids will play at Detroit Lakes on Thursday.
