The Fergus Falls Hurricanes saw their Class C State Tournament action end on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to St. Martin, despite a combined no-hitter from Mitch Porter (6IP, 11K, 3BB, 0R, 1ER, 1HBP) and Alex Koep (2IP, 4K, 1BB, 0H).

Scott Leiser (9IP, 7K, 1BB, 5H, 0R) was the winning pitcher for St. Martin.

The only run of the game came in the sixth inning when Kyle Leiser led off with a walk, advanced all the way to third base on a wild pitch and scored on a squeeze bunt by Bryan Schlangen.

Fergus Falls had back-to-back singles in the third with two outs, but stranded the runners.  In the fifth they got a lead-off single and loaded the bases on a single and an infield error after two outs were recorded, however, a ground out ended the threat.  In the ninth, a one out single followed by a hit batter with two outs presented another scoring opportunity, however, a strikeout ended the inning, the game and the season.

Jake Anderson (2-3, BB) led the Canes at the plate.  Alex Hensch, Jack Hiedeman and Carter Thielke each had one hit.

The combined no-hitter is just the second in the 24 year history of the Class C State Tournament.  Canes pitchers did not allow a ball to reach the outfield.

Fergus Falls finished the season with a 19-7 record.
