Steve Maresh is in his sixteenth year leading the Pelican Rapids boys’ cross country team.  Maresh will be assisted by Logan Knorr as the Vikings enter the 2021 season.  “We are working with a small number of runners, but we have seen great attitudes by all members of the squad.  They are willing to extend themselves in practice and that will lead to good things.”

Returning letter winners include freshman Charlie Larson who ran to a seventh place finish in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference meet last fall and finished the year by placing seventh individually in the Section 8A meet.  Seniors Sam Moe and Julian Diaz, and junior Connor Larson are also back.

“Sam is a hard worker who was voted team captain last year,” stated Coach Maresh.  “His leadership and work ethic will be valuable to the younger runners.  Julian has looked strong in early practice session and is looking to have a strong senior year.  Connor is beginning to build confidence in his running and racing skills and I expect him to have a great season as he chases personal best times on each course.  Seventh-grader Grady Larson has looked strong in early season practice and I would expect him to challenge his older brother, Charlie, as the season progresses.”
