The OTC 15u baseball team opened the Babe Ruth State Tournament at Tony Kawlewski Field in Henning going 2-0 in convincing fashion against Nevis and Warraod.  OTC defeated Nevis 11-2 and Warroad 14-2 behind great pitching and timely hitting.  The Bulldogs played fantastic defense and ran the bases extremely well.  They will move on in pool play to face Holdingford Friday night at Tony Kawlewski Field at 7:30 pm.

In their win over Nevis OTC scored seven runs in the fourth inning with Collin Lukken, Gavin Pausch, Lane Dilly, Kaleb Hammes and Kale Misegades all knocking in runs in the inning.  Misegades and Pausch led Ottertail Central with two hits each, while Pausch also swiped three bases.  Hammes (6IP, 2R, 3H, 3K) was the winning pitcher and Eric Fick threw one inning of relief.

A ten run first inning against Warroad carried Ottertail Central to their second victory of the day. Owen Harig, Soren Floden, Riley Perleberg, Drew Evavold, Lukken and Misegades each had RBI in the inning.  Floden and Misegades paced the 13-hit attack with 3 safeties apiece.  Garrett Kuhn-Rice (4IP, 1H, 2R, 1K, 0BB) earned the victory on the mound and Fick pitched an inning out of the bullpen.

"What a great day of baseball today,” exclaimed OTC Head Coach Evan Meece.  “Our pitchers threw strikes and we made the plays defensively.  Our bats really came alive and it was great to see us keep the pedal to the metal.  I'm excited to see what this team can continue to do this weekend.  Kaleb, Garrett, and Eric did a fantastic job on the mound, putting us in great position tomorrow."
