Fergus Falls American Legion Post 30 split a double header with Perham on Tuesday, winning 7-6 and losing 13-9.

Carter Thielke (6.2IP, 6R, 4ER, 9H, 3BB, 4K) was the winning pitcher in the opener with Arik Heacox earning the save.  Heacox came in with runners on first and third with two outs in the seventh and recorded the final out.

Leading hitters for Post 30 were Ethan Gronwold (2-2, 3RBI), Isaac Johnson (1-3, RBI) and Nathan Kenjalo (1-3, 2B, RBI).

The game was scoreless until the fourth when Perham scored on run on a lead-off doubles and a sacrifice fly.  Post 30 answered with 4 runs in their half of the inning on 3 hits and a Perham error.  Post 30 scored a single run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to take a 7-3 lead.  Perham scored three runs on three hits and an error in the seventh, but Thielke had to leave the game due to reaching the pitch limit.

Ben Swanson (4IP, 10H, 7R, 7ER, 2BB) started on the mound in game two with Kenjalo (2.2IP, 2H, 2BB, 3K, 0R) pitching well in relief.  Heacox (3-4, 2B) and Kenjalo (2-3, 2B) led the offensive attack.

Perham jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and stretched the lead to 13-3 after 4 innings.  Post 30 tallied 6 runs in the fifth inning to bring it to 13-9, but couldn’t get any closer.

“We competed today, offensively,” stated Head Coach Trevor Larson of Fergus Falls.  “We still have a lot of work to do defensively.  It was a good day to see some younger guys get involved at the plate.”

Post 30 will host the District 9 Tournament next Wednesday through Sunday at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park.
