The Ottertail Central Junior Legion team hit the road for a double header with Upsala/Swanville on Thursday, dropping both games by scores of 8-4 and 3-2.

Home runs by Jeremy Mugg in the first inning and Luke Harren in the second inning gave the home team an early lead in the opener and OTC couldn’t overcome the deficit.  They tallied three runs in the sixth inning with Jayden Harig, Owen Buehler and Garrett Nelson each driving in runs in the frame.

Levi Lampert (4IP, 7K, 2H, 0R) held OTC in check with a great performance on the mound, earning the victory.  The loss went to Lane Dilly (3IP, 6R, 7H, 4K).

Mugg added a second homer for Upsala/Swanville in the third inning.  OTC was led at the plate by Harig who went 2-for-3.

The second game was tied 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth when Lampert launched a walk-off solo home run for a 3-2 Upsala/Swanville victory.

The pitching was strong on both sides with Cooper Thieschafer (7IP, 2R, 6H, 10K) turning in an exceptional performance to earn the win.  Tyson Misegades (7.2IP, 10K, 1BB) was outstanding on the mound for OTC, but was saddled with the loss.

Soren Floden and Hunter Haugen each collected two hits for OTC and they didn’t commit an error in the field.

Upsala/Swanville also played errorless ball.  Lampert led the offensive attack with 3 hits in 4 at bats.

“This was a great night of baseball, even though we came out on the wrong end of both games,” commented OTC Head Coach Randy Misegades.  “Our guys battled back in the first game and had a chance in the late innings.  We then carried that momentum into game two where Tyson threw a gem.  USA is a very talented, experienced team and we went toe-to-toe with them.  We are learning how to play high-level baseball and we continue to improve.”
