The Ottertail Central 13U Bulldogs improved to 7-4 overall with a conference record of 5-0 behind strong pitching from Kale Misegades (5IP, 3R, 7H, 9K) and Drew Evavold (2IP) in their 10-4 win over Breckenridge on Wednesday.  In game two of the double header OTC lost 7-6, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, coming up just short.

Coach Ryan Hendrickson commented on the effort he received from Misegades on the mound in game one, “He seems to get a little better with every outing.  He is picking up velocity and finding how, and when, to throw his off-speed stuff.  On 84 pitches he threw 56 strikes, but was closer to 85% strikes in his first 3 innings.”

OTC was strong with the bats also, collecting 13 hits in the game and being led by Evavold (2-3, 2 3B, 5RBI), Misegades (2-2, 2BB), Rowan Finseth (1-2, RBI, BB), Bradyn Roisum (2-3, BB), Braxtyn Cameron (1-2, BB), Ryan Despard (2-3) and Tayden Soma (2-3).

Evavold (2-2, 2RBI, 2R, BB), Misegades (2-3, 2R), Dawson Bushman (2-2, RBI, BB), Mason Hoyt (2-3, RBI) and Bradon Grabe (1-2) were the hitting leaders in game two.   OTC got six pitchers in the second game.

“We are gaining valuable pitching experience and our pitchers are learning how to hold runners, use pick-off moves, gain velocity, all while trying to get batters out,” commented Coach Hendrickson.  “Our future is very bright on the mound as we have a lot of pitchers that throw well and continue to grow from throwers to pitchers.”
